Telstra announced their plans to split the telco in three as part of the privatisation push. Coverage from news.com.au and Whirlpool indicate that it’s been received less than favourably by its competitors. No surprise there. Unless the core network infrastructure is made open to all as a level playing field (chance of that, approximately nil) then I can’t see anything positive from this ’split’, just more layers of bureaucracy. ‘Making it Easier’ indeed. Easier to relieve the Australian public of their hard-earned.
What virus? The alleged d-day for Nyxem seems to have passed with relatively little impact from what I can see. Certainly not the widespread disaster of years gone by.
The Firefox 1.5.0.1 (when a point point release is never enough) update was a pleasant surprise when it came through last night… a real update, not just “hi, we’ve downloaded the entire app for you to reinstall.” Nice to see they’ve finally discovered the concept of a binary patch. In 2006 no less.
I never knew you could still send a telegram in this day and age… Well, apparently you could yesterday, but can’t today, at least not via Western Union.
